APEGA | Mysterious Barricades Free Concert

The Calgary Branch Social Committee would like to invite Calgary Branch members to take part in a live concert to bring awareness of suicide and mental health. Mysterious Barricades hosts concerts in 15 cities across Canada to raise awareness of suicide and mental health. Music variety includes classical, choral, and jazz, performed by some of Canada’s most talented musicians. People affected by suicide, mental health professionals, community figures, politicians, and ordinary Canadians are encouraged to speak up about mental health and suicide in an effort to reduce stigma and provide support. These concerts are intended to raise awareness of the mysterious barricades that exist between mental illness and health. Music is used as a way to open pathways to meaningful discourse on difficult subjects such as suicide and mental illness. In concerts, people who celebrate life and hope are brought together with artists who believe that music is a visceral, deeply healing, and connective force that unites and transforms.

These free concerts will be performed for live audiences between September 5 and 14, 2019, and will be streamed on Saturday, September 14 as one day-long concert that begins at sunrise in St. John’s, and follows the sun across Canada to end at sunset in Victoria. As with all the live concerts, the video stream is free to enjoy, and will be available for viewing on the Mysterious Barricades website until September 21, 2019.
